Massive Cast Iron Box Way Construction - The 5X-160 machine casting design was CAD designed with FEA (Finite Element Analysis), and computer analyzed with internal structure reinforcement with numerous strategically placed heavy cast ribs to intensify rigidity. The heavy-duty casting and the box way design dampen vibration for superior machining capability for enhanced tool life and fine surface finishes. Slideways are coated with Turcite®-B antifriction material to minimize stick/slip characteristics and to ensure long-term accuracy under demanding cutting conditions.

The 17.5” wide spacing of the saddle box ways offers the optimal guide ratio for the slideways, further enhancing the performance of the machine.
